Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly analytical Accountant to manage day-to-day financial operations, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and internal controls across our group of companies. Key Responsibilities: Financial Accounting & Operations: Maintain accurate, complete financial records using accounting software e.g., QuickBooks. Post daily transactions tuition collections, operational expenses, bank entries, maintain tuition registers, issue receipts, and perform monthly bank and cashbook reconciliations. Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts income statement, cash flow statement, and statement of financial position. Prepare annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS for SMEs and CAMA 2020, and support external auditors during audits. Tax & Regulatory Compliance: Calculate and remit PAYE, WHT, and VAT to the NRS and State IRS. File annual Form A, CIT returns, and CAC annual returns/financial statements. Issue VAT and WHT credit notes to vendors and beneficiaries. Internal Control & Risk Mitigation: Prepare annual budgets and conduct variance analysis budget vs. actual. Verify that payment vouchers have valid approvals/supporting documents, enforce cash payment limits, safeguard company assets, and mitigate fraud risks. Payroll & Advisory: Process staff payroll with accurate PAYE deductions, advise management on cost-saving opportunities, and perform related duties assigned by the Chairman/Management. Required Qualifications & Key Skills: Education: BSc or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional Certification: ICAN or ACCA certification is an added advantage. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience within schools or SMEs. Technical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks. Strong working knowledge of NRS tax rules VAT, WHT, PAYE and statutory requirements. Core Competencies: Uncompromising integrity, high attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to deliver under tight deadlines with limited resources.
