Description
As the Machine Shop Technician, you are responsible for the cutting, identification, and machining of the test specimens and materials for subsequent testing in the laboratories. The position is focused on the correct preparation of specimens to comply with internal procedures, industry standards, and written instructions. The individual will interface with internal customers of the shop in such a way as to promote teamwork and cooperation among all of the related departments. Prepare testing materials and specimens after receiving them from the customer Process and follow test preparation and testing procedures to ensure compliance with standards and specifications per the SGS quality system Provide technical support and assistance to staff and engineers Maintain and clean laboratory instruments and equipment Crosstrain in other departments as needed Communicate with staff and supervision to ensure proper order processing Education and Experience Required: High School Diploma 0-2 years related experience and/or training in the field Preferred: Associate's degree in a relevant field required Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
