Description

This role sits within APHRC’s Health and Wellbeing Theme. It focuses on research that identifies vulnerability to climate-related health impacts, quantifies and models climate-health risks, and tests adaptation, mitigation and resilience solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and lead research on climate and health, including vulnerability assessment, impact quantification, modelling and intervention testing.
  • Lead proposal development, scientific writing and climate-health research strategy.
  • Provide technical oversight to multidisciplinary teams spanning climate science, health, epidemiology, policy, communications and data science.
  • Build partnerships with African and global research institutions and support consortium-based research delivery.
  • Translate evidence into policy insights and engage communities, policymakers and regional bodies.

Requirements / Eligibility

  • PhD in environmental health, environmental science, geography, climate science, epidemiology, public health or a related field.
  • At least six years of relevant postdoctoral experience in climate-health research.
  • Strong publication and scientific writing record on climate and health interlinkages.
  • Experience designing or leading multicountry research programmes and developing grant proposals.
  • Quantitative skills in climate-health data generation, management, analysis, modelling or attribution science.
